To All Amity Athletes and Parents,

 

Amity Youth Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading is Quickly approaching the end of registration  for the 2009 Football Season. The final day to register will be Wednesday June 17,2009. We will declare our teams to SCPW on Monday June 22,2009.  We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, parents, volunteers and friends for their generous contributions and continued support to help our organization succeed and become a reality.  We are proud to report that for the end of the 2008 fiscal year we have paid all of our expenses and finished with a positive cash balance. 

 Amity Youth Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading provides boys and girls of Bethany, Orange and Woodbridge ages 8-15, the opportunity to learn about teamwork, discipline, commitment, character and of course having FUN!!! Our goal is to provide our youth the opportunity to learn and participate in the sport of football and cheerleading while building a strong foundation and feeder program for Amity High School Athletics.

Our Mission is to develop the finest program possible for our children by providing and maintaining the safest equipment available, encouraging good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support and respect for all, providing a safe structured environment and teaching fundamental values, skills and knowledge that our children will use throughout their lives.

For the 2009 season, Amity Youth Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading will field teams and compete potentially in (5) DIVISIONS.

1.MITEY MITES (strictly a training division) for ages 7-8-9 years old up 45- 90 lbs

2.JR PEE WEE for age’s 8-9-10 years old, 60-105 lbs 11* year old up to 85 lbs

3.PEE WEE for ages 9-10-11 years old 75-120 lbs 12* year old up to 100 lbs

4.JR MIDGETS for ages 10-11-12 years old, 85-135 lbs 13* year old up to 115 lbs

5.MIDGETS for ages 11-12-13-14 years old, 105-160 lbs 15* up to 140 lbs

Players age is determined on how old the player is on August 1, 2009 .

The “*” previsions in each division allow the “older but lighter” player to also qualify.

  Southern Connecticut Pop Warner has an 8 game regular season. The tentative opening date of the 2009 season is the weekend of August 30^th 2009 . Typically all games are played on Saturday or Sunday. Home games will be played @ AMITY HIGH SCHOOL weather permitting.  Our tentative practice schedule will be as follows Monday, August 3, 2009 thru August 30, 2009 will be Monday-Friday 5pm-8pm. Once school starts the week of September 1, 2009 practice time will change to 2 weeknights ( 5:30 pm-8pm ) and some Saturday mornings.

 At the end of the season, SCPW has league championship playoffs, which results in a league champion at each level for each division. The 8 remaining teams enter the national playoff bracket and travel to WALT DISNEYWORLD to play for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Amity Youth Pop Warner will be competing in Division 2 of SCPW.

 

Amity Youth Pop Warner Football will be competing against the following towns.

1. Derby                                                           7. Naugatuck

2. Tri Valley (Prospect, Beacon Falls )            8. Hamden

3. Milford                                                         9. Stratford

4. Seymour                                                       10.Trumbull

5. Shelton                                                         11.West Haven

6. Fairfield

 

8 of these 11 teams will make up our regular season schedule.  Due to the close proximity of these above competitors, we feel it will be a great experience for the children of our program. We are excited about the natural local rivalries that will develop through the years.

 Our 2^nd Annual Season Kickoff Jamboree for all Football players, Cheerleaders and their families will be on Sat August 1, 2009 . This event will be at Bethany West Lake on Route 42 in Bethany. Come join us for the food, fun, music, swimming, and games while getting the opportunity to ask questions, meet coaches, and other members of the Amity Youth Football and Cheerleading family.

Please note: the increase in the registration fees listed below was done in response to the recommendations of a majority of parents in order to reduce mandatory fundraising and limit constraints on family time.

This year we are proud to announce your 2009 football player registration fee includes:

1.      Adam’s A2010 –Grid Elite Football Helmet (reconditioned, buffed and sanitized with BacShield {to prevent mold, mildew, bacterial odor, and possible risk of staph infection} ) with 4-Point High ProGel Anti-Slip soft chin strap

2.      New Adam’s Boss Gridiron Shoulder Pads with Cool Max lining and treated with BacShield for all players (achieved through negotiations with Adam’s)

3.      Game Football Jerseys ( home & away)

4.      Game Football Pants & Practice Football Pants

5.      Football thigh and knee pads

6.      *Practice Football jersey

7.      *Game Uniform Socks

8.      *1” Polypropylene Web Belt

9.      *Form fit vinyl mouth guard with strap

10.  *Reebok NFL football gloves

11.  *Spirit pack (includes t-shirt and shorts)

12.  Kickoff Jamboree (free food, prizes and games)

13.  *End of year trophy recognition

(* Football Players will be allowed to keep these items.)

Not included in the registration fee but required are your cleats and a youth supporter brief/ girdle with protective cup and sewn- in hip, thigh, and spine pads.

Cheerleading Information will be forthcoming in the near future.

 

Registration for the upcoming 2009 Amity Youth Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading Season ends Wednesday June 17,2009 .Equipment will be issued and registration will be held at 5 guys burgers and Fries on Amity rd in Woodbridge on June 16,17 2009. The Registration Fees are as follows.

 

           

Registration March 15, 2009 – June 17, 2009 - Discounted fees

             $245.00 Per football player

             $175.00 Per cheerleader

 

This deadline has been established in order to comply with SCPW scheduling committee and to allow enough time to purchase and receive the necessary equipment to ensure safe participation by all of our children.  A 50% refund of registration fee will be given if requested before or between July 3, 2009 - July 31, 2009 . NO REFUNDS OF REGISTRATION FEES WILL BE GIVEN AFTER AUGUST 1, 2009 .
